Greetings & Welcome
T.H.R.I.V.E. Christian Academy (TCA) is a new and unique academic addition to the DeKalb community. TCA trains youth not only in academics, but also in Biblical principles. With love and respect as our school’s foundations, we empower and educate our students academically and socially. Our students “thrive” academically, socially and spiritually.
What is T.H.R.I.V.E.?
T.H.R.I.V.E. stands for Truth, Humility, Respect, Integrity, Victory and Excellence! These are the six pillars of TCA. We believe if we equip our youth with these characteristics and principles, they will be successful in their everyday pursuits throughout their lifetime.
“Empowering the Finest Work
of the Potter’s Hands”
Perhaps you are familiar with the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Our motto sums up how we intend to answer the roll call and do our part in the “village.” We believe our students are all the finest works of the Potter’s hands and we have a responsibility to empower them both academically and spiritually.
T.H.R.I.V.E. Christian Academy opened its doors for the Fall 2013 school year with two first grade students, namely Stacy Dennis and Jasmine Green. We began our journey in a four-bedroom outreach center - Blessed 2 Bless, in downtown Lithonia.
Since our inception we have grown from two students to over one hundred represented from Toddler 2 through 10th grade. To God be the Glory!
"His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things...' " Matt 25:23a NIV.
Isaiah 64:8b “We are the clay, You are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.”
Though brief, this text is the foundation for TCA. The text declares two essential life components: (1) humility and (2) God’s sovereignty. Humility in that though we may be different in ethnicity, body shape, hair texture, ability or disability- we are ALL clay, beautiful vessels created by the very hands of God. God’s sovereignty is highlighted in the acknowledgment that God is the Potter, the visionary who chooses how to shape and mold us.
T.H.R.I.V.E. Christian Academy is an evangelical, nondenominational, co-ed, nonprofit elementary school ministry. Christian Education is a Bible-based teaching-learning process designed to guide individuals (through contemporary teaching means) toward knowing and experiencing God’s purpose and plan in every aspect of living.
It is the mission of TCA to:
Be a Christ-centered school of integrity which honors God.
Train our students in academic excellence, character and faith.
Educate youth to compete academically, excelling on nationally-distributed tests and scoring above-average in every grade level on a national achievement test.
To introduce our students to the benefits of developing a personal relationship with God.
To expose students to the Word of God, and to guide them as they grow in the wisdom and understanding of the Lord.
Encourage growth and confidence academically and spiritually.
Promote our students’ awareness of past and current events which influence our contemporary culture; and to prepare them to actively and positively contribute to and participate in society.
